NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a pivotal initiative in India that engages college students in community service and social development. Established on September 24, 1969, by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NSS aims to instill a sense of social responsibility and civic consciousness among the youth. The program operates under the umbrella of the Government of India, promoting the motto "Not Me, But You" to emphasize the spirit of selfless service.

The history of NSS dates back to the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, who believed in the transformative power of voluntary community service. Over the years, NSS has evolved into a dynamic platform that brings together college students from diverse backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to society. The scheme aligns with the values of secularism, democratic living, and social justice, fostering an inclusive environment for personal and societal growth.

The scope of NSS volunteers encompasses a wide array of activities that address the needs of the community. From healthcare and sanitation drives to educational initiatives and environmental conservation projects, NSS engages students in a range of socially relevant endeavors. Volunteers actively participate in campaigns for literacy, blood donation, and awareness programs on issues such as HIV/AIDS, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. NSS also plays a crucial role during natural disasters and emergencies, providing relief and rehabilitation support.

NSS volunteers develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication through their involvement in diverse projects. The program not only contributes to the betterment of society but also nurtures responsible and compassionate citizens. By fostering a sense of empathy and commitment to community welfare, NSS empowers the youth to become catalysts for positive change in the world around them.

Our college proudly operates four NSS units, each dedicated to the uplifting of a specific village through various community service initiatives. These adopted villages serve as focal points for our NSS-related activities, fostering positive change, and promoting sustainable development. Together, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
